With almost 300 days of sunshine per year, Montpellier is only 15 minutes away from the sea and sandy beaches of the Mediterranean Sea. Located in one of the most beautiful region of the south of France, Montpellier offers at the same time the opportunity to discover all the treasures of the south of France: the Provence and the various landscapes. Montpellier is a modern and historic city, and one of the most dynamic ones in France in terms of culture.

The historic center with its pedestrian streets reveals a lot of old monuments and shelters architectural treasures witness of several centuries of history (town houses, cathedrals, College of Medicine, etc.). This city was founded in the 10th century. Montpellier offers many cultural activities such as museums (of which the famous Fabre museum), exhibitions, famous festivals, opera, etc.

Montpellier is also a famous University City. It has a youthful energy – students make up more than a third of the population.

Education has played a significant role on Montpellier’s history: the University of Montpellier was founded in 1160, making it one of the oldest in the world.

Young and dynamic, it welcomes more than 80 000 students every year, coming from all over the world.

When in Montpellier, you should get to know the tram. The tram is the most efficient way to zoom around the city. Montpellier has four tramlines, and the cars for different lines are designed with specific themes and very extravagant: The vehicles for line 1 are blue and decorated with white swallows; those for line 2 are painted with colorful flowers, those for line 3 feature a maritime design and those for line 4 two different liveries in gold or black.

It is without doubt one of the most stylish public transport systems in the world.
